Design-Based Learning at UCLA's Center X

UCLA’s Center X  has included Design-Based Learning as one of its teacher-training programs starting in the 2019–2020 academic year. Design-Based Learning at Center X is new and exciting for the future of DBL.

What is Center X?

UCLA’s Center X is one of the nation’s most prestigious teacher-training institutions, concentrating on promoting equity in education. Since 1993, Center X has become a model for other institutions seeking to expand their impact in the communities that surround them. To find out more about this one-of-a-kind institution visit:

Why Did We Join Center X?

Through the Center for City Building Education-Design-Based Learning we have trained countless numbers of teachers throughout the years and have changed the lives of thousands of students in difficult situations.

Since the 1970s, our educational programs in at-risk communities have touched the most vulnerable students. Like Center X, Social Consciousness is at the heart of Design-Based Learning.

Center X has significant network in the greater Los Angeles School Districts. These districts regularly contract services through Center X and will now have the option of Design-Based Learning training through this trusted institution.

Additionally, with their robust administrative and fundraising support we can focus our energies solely on teaching and developing new DBL programs.
